Featured Vintage Brut Rosé
Brut Rosé V.s.q., Luigi Giordano, "metodo Classico", 2017From northern facing vineyards in the heart of Barbaresco, the Giordano family has crafted a vintage sparkling wine made to the exacting standards of Champagne, and utilizing the most noble red grape of Piedmont, Nebbiolo. The family estate was founded in 1930 by Giuseppe Giordano and is now in the hands of 4th generation Giordanos Laura and her son Matteo. The cooler northern facing vineyards allow the grapes to mature more slowly and more completely while maintaining freshness, and the resulting wine is refreshingly dry in style and sure to delight.93

Paolo Scavino, "sorriso", 2022Recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its vineyard landscape, the Langhe region of Piedmont is one of the most favorable places for growing vines in the world. Met with the grandeur of endless folding hillsides planted predominantly to indigenous grapes, it's tempting for one to imagine almost ANY grape variety's potential to thrive there. "Sorriso" is a unique blend of international grape varieties not typical for the region. While traditionalists may argue that only local grapes fully express the sacred terroir of the Langhe, Scavino saw the potential to expand the magic of Piedmont by this beautifully fresh and vibrant expression of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. Attilio, his father, may very well be Europe's most respected enologist, teaching for decades at the University of Milan, where he is now the Chief Professor of Viticulture. The history of winemaking on the land of Guado al Melo perfectly complements the modernity of their methods. Blending Etruscan varietals and practices with modern techniques and facilities, the winery draws from the knowledge of allgenerations. The Scienza family's mastery shows in this blend of five different Italian grapes, including Vermentino and Verdicchio98

Antonio Mazzella, "biancollela", 2022The island of Ischia, the largest of the Phlegrean Islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, is about 20 mi. offshore from Naples. It is roughly 6 mi. east to west and 4 mi. north to south, entirely mountainous, and is famous for its thermal gardens created by its volcanic activity. Antonio Mazzella crafts this singular wine from what he describes as "vertical vineyards" on the steep hills mere feet from where the land meets the sea. Brimming forth with sun-kissed freshness and radiant texture, not many wines can convey a "sense of place" quite like this one, just try to not be swept away to an island paradise after one sip84

The Hilt, Sta. Rita Hills, 2020"Through adversity, character is not built, but revealed" – James Lane Allen They say to make great wine, the vine must struggle. To make wine on rocky and windswept ridges of the Sta. Rita Hills requires patience and skill. Winemaker Matt Dees crafts this Chardonnay of balance and pleasure from the fog-laden Estate vineyards of Bentrock, Radian, and Puerta del Mar, located mere miles from the Pacific Ocean.109

Quintarelli, "bianco Secco Ca' Del Merlo", 2021Though Giuseppe Quintarelli gained his fame with his red wines, especially his iconic Amarone, the estate also crafts a beautiful white, evocative of the Veneto. Bianco Secco is a seductive blend of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscana, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Saorin derinving from 30 year old vines grown in mineral rich soils. Combining a rounded texture and lifted aromatics, this is a perfect white wine to use as an aperitif on its own or paired with our Zucchini Fritti. Served out of a magnum, this is an undeniable declaration of being determined to bring the party.333

Barolo, Vietti, "castiglione", 2019For over 150 years the Vietti estate, seated at the peak of the highest point within Castiglione Falletto, has overlooked the medieval castle for which the surrounding village is named. The greater region of Barolo is world renowned for its rich history, rolling hillsides, and one of the worlds most prestigious grapes, Nebbiolo, a thin-skinned and highly aromatic grape that produces wines that may look light but are packed with power in every sip. The fruit is sourced from a selection of several different sites within the region that are individually pressed, vinified, aged, and seamlessly woven together, creating a wine that will draw you back sip after sip after sip.109

Bianchi, "vigneto Valferana", 2013As we enter an era when Barolo and Barbaresco join the ranks of Grand Cru Burgundy and Bordeaux collections around the world, high quality ageworthy Nebbiolo at a value is becoming a rarity. Gattinara, one of the smallest and Northernmost regions in Italy, is almost entirely surrounded by glaciers fed by Monte Rosa, the 2nd highest peak in Europe. The Bianchis have been making time-honored traditional Nebbiolo (locally known as 'Spanna') since the farm was formed in 1785 and today, family members Eva and her son Paolo carry on the family's style. We proudly offer this beautiful '13 with over a decade of bottle age...at this price? You may want two.113

Gaudio Bricco Mondalino, 2020Bricco Mondalino is a family winery in Vignale Monferrato, which today is a UNESCO Heritage Site. For the past three centuries, the Gaudio family has been making Monferrato wine. Estate bottling began in 1970 under Amilcare Gaudio, the present owner Mauro's father, who still works alongside his wife Gabrielle and his daughter Beatrice. Bricco Mondalino takes its name from the Piedmont words for Bliss (Gaudio) and Hilltop (Bricco). A lighter style of Barbera, compared to those coming from Asti or Alba, meant for everyday enjoyment. Try a sip and experience the bliss for yourself.74

Featured Barolo
Marrone, 2018Whether you're a vintner, enologist, sommelier, or simply a lover of fine wine, all would agree that Barolo stands among the most elite wines of the world. Just as Burgundy lovers forever debate the nuances of Vosne-Romanée versus, say, Gevrey-Chambertin, Barolo enthusiasts of today discuss structural differences and aromatic distinctions found in each of Barolo's unique subzones. Marrone sources from vineyard sites in the communes of La Morra and Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of Barolo, from soils comprised of clay and limestone, resulting in an elegant and refined style.139

Featured Barolo "Cru"
Bussia, Pecchenino, 2012In 2010 the Barolo region was officially demarcated and recognized for its 181 "Menzioni" , more commonly referred to as "Cru". These designations celebrate the soulfully expressive characteristics of each site's diverse soils, varying altitudes, and unique grape growing typicity. Outside of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, there is perhaps no other region that is studied and dissected in greater detail than the zone of Barolo. The "Bussia" Cru is on the northern-most border of Monforte d' Alba and enjoys warm sunlight juxtaposed against cool hilltop breezes eliciting a beautifully balanced wine of elegance and power.222

Sordo, "gabutti", 2008One of the world's most important red grapes, Nebbiolo, is regarded for its distinctive structure and complex flavor profile. Unlike any other world class grape variety, Nebbiolo only performs at its best in one part of the world. It is in the Serravallian soils of Barolo where you'll find the most powerful, enchanting, and long lived expressions of the grape. Sordo Giovanni, currently run by 4th generation family members, produces this wine from the Cru of "Gabutti", located in the Commune of Serralunga d'Alba. Only made in the finest vintages, this wine offers one of the best values for such a special, small production Barolo Riserva.202

Barbaresco
Featured Barbaresco "Cru"
Casot, Giuseppe Nada, 2018In the southern slopes of Barbaresco sits the small commune of Treiso, home to the Giuseppe Nada winery. The Nada family settled in the locality of Casot in 1900, but it wasn't until the mid-'60s that the family began to bottle under the Nada label, unearthing great potential in the hills east of Alba. The resulting wines are powerfully structured and concentrated with an emphasis on elegant textures and expressive aromatics.128

The Wines of Angelo Gaja
Featured Gaja Half Bottle
Barbaresco, Gaja, 2017Angelo Gaja is the man credited for bringing the small commune of Barbaresco out of obscurity. His influence has changed the way the world views Italian wine to this day. A master of Nebbiolo--the austere, tannic grape once considered only quaffable after decades of bottle age. Angelo saw its potential as a world class wine. Despite pushback from his peers, he employed new (and what most considered outlandish) practices both in the vineyard and the winery to promote freshness and elegance in his wine.375mL 289

Chianti
Featured Chianti Superiore
Pieve De' Pitti, "cerretello", 2016Chianti might just be the most polarizing word in all of Italian wine. From an array of styles that fall somewhere between traditional and modern, to wines produced within vs without the Classico area between Florence and Siena (and don't get us started about the dreadful days of the "Fiasco"). Regardless, producers in the region are striving to distance themselves from the naysayers and make wines of distinction and character. Pieve de' Pitti's "Cerretello" encapsulates this effort beautifully, sourcing from their top vineyard, just outside the city of Pisa, and is objectively as classic and delicious as Chianti gets!68

Salcheto, 2019There is often an assumption in the wine world that progress underminds tradition. Salcheto is a modern winery in one of Italy's most historic wine communities, Montepulciano. They make classic, terrior reflective wines utilizing sustainable practices unparalleled anywhere on the planet. They were the first company in the world to have certified the carbon footprint of a bottle of wine (even inventing their own lightweight glass bottles!), their cellar system is completely energy independent and their vineyards are farmed organically via composting. They quite literally operate off the grid, saving more energy than they use! 2018 was a warm, balanced standout vintage throughout Tuscany and it truly shines through in this Riserva's depth and character97

Brunello di Montalcino
Featured Brunello di Montalcino
Fattoria Del Pino, 2015"Classic" Brunello di Montalcino is getting harder to define. New producers, French barrels, and growing disparity between the North and South of the appellation all have led to myriad styles. The vineyards of Fattoria del Pino, located on the northern side of Montalcino, on the hill of Montosoli, were planted in 2000, and the winemaker, Jessica Pelegrini, embraces more natural vinification practices to create finessed, elegant, and terroir driven wines. While Brunello styles may differ, the respect for the vintage is paramount among all estates. The wine serves anecdotally to show the power of naturally growing Tuscany's greatest grape in its purest form189

Featured Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
La Fiorita, 2013Brunello di Montalcino has risen to be the premier interpretation of Tuscan Sangiovese. At the Riserva level, it ranks among some of the highest aging requirements of any other table wine in the world. By law, it may not be released until the 6th year following harvest, and is mandated to mature in oak for a minimum of two years. Full in body, a Riserva designated Brunello expresses all the traditional flavors one expects from the varietal with an emphasis on black cherry, chocolate notes, and a dark earthiness. The resulting wine is a more pronounced, luxurious bottling that only the hill of Montalcino can provide.321

"Super Tuscan"
Featured Bolgheri
Tenuta Argentiera, "villa Donoratico", 2020The Super Tuscan movement began in the early 1970s and quickly gained favor amongst collectors and casual wine drinkers alike. These wines were made famous by incorporating non-native grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Tenuta Argentiera's "Villa Donoratico" masterfully blends these Tuscan-grown varietals to create a powerful yet elegant style that stands up against the best of Napa and Bordeaux.144

The term "Super Tuscan" was coined by American journalists who welcomed these fuller-bodied, more polished Tuscan reds to the market. At a time when a majority of Tuscan wines were synonymous with thin, mediocre table wine, a few restless vintners set out to challenge the status quo. The wines were enthusiastically received by critics and ultimately led to a wine quality renaissance in Tuscany that has been on the rise ever since! The first bottle associated with the movement was Tenuta San Guido's 1968 "Sassicaia", vinified from Cabernet grapes on the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri. On the wave of their uncle Mario's overnight success with Sassicaia, nephews Piero and Lodovico Antinori adopted their own unique style with the release of Tignanello, Solaia, and Ornellaia. We proudly offer a library of these world class wines from our cellar, many of which only a handful of bottles still exist.

Featured Valpolicella Classico Superiore
Domìni Veneti, "verjago", 2021The serene and picturesque region of Valpolicella lies anchored between the ancient city of Verona to the south, Lake Garda to the west, and the Dolomite mountain range to the north. The foothills of the latter form finger-shaped valleys where the vineyards of Valpolicella dot the landscape. "Verjago" is made from an indigenous grape blend, with Corvina being the principle variety. After harvest, the grapes undergo a unique process called "Appassimento", allowing the grapes to dry for several months on straw mats in small structures called Fruttaio, which are interspersed throughout the vineyards. This process is typically reserved for Amarone della Valpolicella, the region's greatest wine, making this bottling an incredible value, especially for those in search of something full-bodied and bold.96

Veneto Reds of Quintarelli & Dal Forno
Featured Producers
Quintarelli vs. Dal Forno. DRC vs. Leroy...Lafite vs. Latour...Conterno vs. Gaja... the wine geek's equivalent to a political debate (notwithstanding a little BS) in a quest for the single greatest expression of a particular wine. In Valpolicella, two producers indisputably reign at the top of the quality pyramid: Quintarelli and Dal Forno. Both producers commit maniacal attention to fruit selection, sorting down to the individual berry if necessary to achieve the best extraction of flavor possible. Quintarelli's genius in the cellar is carried out through more traditional methods of èlevage, while Dal Forno boasts one of the most technologically advanced wineries in the world. Preference in the resulting wines can be polarizing depending on the taster, but the quality of both is unquestionable. Where Quintarelli masterfully draws elegance and otherworldly aromas out of his Amarones, Dal Forno excels in achieving depths of concentration winemakers in Napa only dream about.

Featured Aglianico Campania
Trabucco, "Érre", 2019Poets like Horace, Catallus, and Pliny the Elder wrote poetry about the Roman Empire's finest wine, originally known as Falernian. The quality of the wine is so impressive that the 121 BC vintage was toasted in 60 BC after Julius Caesar conquered Spain. Mount Massico, the source, is blessed by constant ash deposits from Campania's volcanic arc, composed of "erupters" like Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei, and Epomeo. The local Aglianico grape thrives off the mineral-rich volcanic ash, giving body and density to a wine famous for over two millennia.64

Contini, "inu", 2018Sardinia is among the 5 "Blue Zones" of the world, a term referring to areas with the largest concentration of centenarians. Cannanou (the Sardinian variant of Grenache) is incredibly anti-oxidant rich, and locals consume two glasses a day on average, undeniably contributing to their longevity. The Contini family, as well, has been at it for over 100 years, now in its 4th generation of family propriety. So please enjoy this beautifully dark and brooding wine, it may just tack a year or two onto your life expectancy.72

J.c. Somers Vintner, "nicholas Family", Dundee Hills, 2021Named for the "Nicholas Family" Vineyard, formerly "Bella Vida" Vineyard, J. C. Somers is a collaboration between Jay Christopher Somers and longtime partner and wife Ronda Newell-Somers. After founding and developing the J. Christopher brand starting in 1996 they are returning to their roots producing small quantities of focused, elegant and terroir driven wines made from the best sites in the Willamette Valley. The Dundee Hills AVA is one of the coolest climate and most geologically diverse subregions of the Willamette Valley, giving this wine a strikingly unique sense of terroir and site specificity. Medium bodied with notes of juicy blackberries, volcanic rock, leather, and a touch of toasted oak, this is an easy drinking, quintessential Oregon Pinot Noir that is sure to provide a wonderful backdrop to any meal.89

Featured Valdeguié Blend
Cruse, "monkey Jacket", North Coast, 2020-Michael Cruse prides himself on making wines that he describes as "unabashedly Californian and inherently delicious". Native to Northern California, he started Cruse after years in the industry and notably creating a Champagne-inspired Sparkler called Ultramarine, using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the legendary Charles Heintz vineyard. Super cool. For his eponymous label, he opted against the usual suspects as it pertains to California wine, choosing instead to cultivate lesser known international varieties such as Valdeguié, Tannat, Carignan, and St Laurent, all farmed organically. Monkey Jacket is the flagship bottling of Cruse, with Valdeguié leading the way in this unique blend. Though the grapes are obscure, the flavors in the glass are somehow familiar; brightness of fruit, distinct earthiness, and generous structure81

Featured Vin Santo del Chianti
Donatella Cinelli Colombini, 2007Literally translated "Holy Wine", Vin Santo has a rich history dating back to the heart of the Renaissance era. Using the unique passito method, grapes are dried out on straw mats to concentrate sugars and amplify complexity. Legend has it that a 14th century friar once used leftover Vin Santo from Mass to heal the sick. We're not guaranteeing a miracle, but might suggest that a glass of this 'enlightened spirit' can cure what ails you500ml 176
