What has a runny egg, meat (sometimes veggies) and cheese sandwiched between two buttery biscuits that’s sure to get ya goin’ in the morning?
That’s right, we’re talkin’ breakfast (or brunch) sandwiches – the most productive cure to any hangover, kick-starter to any work day, and freakin’ awesome on-the-go breakfast to eat with your hands during your morning commute.
If you’re in Chicago, these breakfast sammies are a great cure to your Lollapalooza hangover but no worries, West Coast, we’ve got you covered too. Here are some of our favorite breakfast sandwiches you should check out!
While we wouldn’t say no to a burger in the morning, opt for one of the breakfast sandwiches at M Burger at the Thompson Center! All come on a warm toasted English muffin – Classic Egg and Cheese ($2.99), Bacon, Egg and Cheese (with brown sugar, black pepper bacon!) ($3.49) and Turkey Sausage, Egg and Cheese ($3.99). FYI – Guacamole can be added to any sandwich for an extra $.30.
Breakfast Bao are a magical thing! Try their Egg, Bacon & Cheddar, Egg Spinach and Mushroom, Egg and Spicy Sausage or BBQ Pork ($1.99 each). Breakfast Buns are also available and include Pork Belly, Egg and Cheese, Spicy Sausage, Egg and Cheese or Spinach, Mushroom, Egg and Cheese ($3.19).
Bocadillos, or Spanish Breakfast Sandwiches, are mighty delicious and Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! has one for the books. Try their Spanish “Cubano” Bocadillo with confit pork shoulder, manchego cheese, zucchini pickles and mustard aioli ($7).
Both locations – River North and Rosemont – offer a plethora of hand-held biscuit sandwiches during the weekend brunch, including Sausage, Egg & Cheese ($9.95), Shaved Ham, Egg & Cheese ($9.95) and Crispy Fried Chicken ($8.95).
Though they offer a whole lot of delicious eats in the morning, the breakfast sandwich at Sacred Grounds is worth trying – thick-cut bacon and all. Includes scrambled eggs, sharp cheddar cheese and thick-cut bacon ($5.99).
Locations in both River North and Streeterville offer some delicious breakfast sandwiches to start off your day – our personal favorite is the Pepper and Egg White Sandwich with shishito, jalapeño, pepper jack, organic kale and spinach ($8.50) #Yum.
The California-inspired haven whips up some KILLER homemade English muffins – on which all of their breakfast sandwiches are made. Try the Original with scrambled eggs, tomato, cheddar, spicy mayo and choice of bacon, sausage or avocado or the Egg White with tomato and cheddar .
Stella Barra in Hollywood, CA serves up a weekend brunch menu of four breakfast sandwiches, from housemade Italian sausage to scrambled egg whites to thick-cut braised bacon with jalapeño jack and chipotle mayo. Check out the full breakfast and brunch menus here.
