Summer is synonymous with outdoor brunching and we’ve got a brand new spot in Chicago’s River North to add to your list: Osteria via Stato (620 N. State St.). The rustic Italian restaurant from Chef David DiGregorio is dishing out brunch service for the first time from 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Devour Italian-inspired brunch classics, eggs, sandwiches, pizzas and a featured brunch pizza all made fresh, with seasonal ingredients from local, Midwestern farmers.
Here’s why you should be excited about it.
The Osteria brunch menu from Chef David adds an Italian-twist to signature brunch dishes.
A few chef favorites: Smoked Salmon Platter with crème fresh, capers, red onion and toasted ciabatta, Baked Chicken Hash with Slagel Farm Sunny Side Up Eggs, House-made Sausage and Vegetable Strata which is layered ciabatta, egg custard, roasted peppers, onions and provolone and of course something sweet like the Ciabatta French Toast with fresh berries and pure maple syrup.
The new brunch menu also includes Italian sandwiches like the Open-Faced Italian with La Quercia Prosciutto, ricotta and farm egg, pizzas and a featured brunch pizza: the Nueskies Black-Peppered Bacon Pizza with hand-pulled mozzarella, Nueske black pepper bacon, caramelized onions and farm egg. Yes, you read that right – pizza for brunch.
Weekend brunch isn’t complete without brunch cocktails. Osteria offers a Build-Your-Own Bellini Bar complete with prosecco and seasonal fruit purée like white peach, strawberry, blueberry, blood orange, lemon, mango and more.
The Sgroppino with housemade lemon sorbetto, vodka and prosecco along with a rotating selection of Italian rosé are perfect for summer brunching.
