Now Serving: New Vegetarian & Vegan Menu at Mon Ami Gabi
Whether you’re practicing Meatless Mondays or avoid animal products on the daily, Mon Ami Gabi is here for you. The beloved bistro just launched a new menu of vegetarian and vegan takes on French classics for the first time in Chicago, Oak Brook, Bethesda and Las Vegas. Take a look at a few of our favorites!
Vegan Onion Soup
This vegan spin on classic French onion soup features rich vegetable broth pumped up with tamari and red wine vinegar, caramelized Spanish onions and green lentils. This stick-to-your-ribs starter is garnished with rustic toasts topped with vegan onion cream made with caramelized onions, almond milk and nutritional yeast for nuttiness.
Cavatelli pasta, celery root confit, calabrian chili, and roasted cremini, oyster, white beech, and trumpet mushrooms are sautéed with brown butter and mushroom brodo for this filling vegetarian main course. Then our chefs add truffle butter, grana padano, preserved lemon and parsley and toss everything until creamy. For a final flourish, it’s finished with grated aged Sicilian pepato cheese.
Spiced Cauliflower Steak & Frites
Oven-roasted cauliflower subs in for beef in this vegan take on traditional Steak Frites. Topped with nicoise olive tapenade and lemon vinaigrette and served with Mon Ami Gabi’s famous frites, this entree satisfies even the heartiest appetites.
Feeling indecisive? This one’s for you with a little of everything – except for meat. Sautéed spinach, mushrooms, broccolini, French green beans and celery root confit join lentils du puy and crispy frites on the plate with a side of red wine vinaigrette for dipping and drizzling. C’est magnifique!
