With fall, we see the arrival of apple-picking, pumpkin spice-flavored everything and best of all… Oktoberfest!
Kick off the two-week long celebration with an official Oktoberfest Party starting at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, on Hub 51‘s outdoor patio. Enjoy steins of Off Color Brewing’s Waddle beer alongside passed bites such as Mini Reubens, Homemade Pretzels with Beer Cheese, Apples Cakes and more.
And if that’s not enough, come back for more over the next two weeks when Hub 51 will be offering German-inspired dish specials like Grilled Brats and Giant Soft Pretzels. Reserve a table here!
But did you know….
The tradition of Oktoberfest started in Germany in 1810 in order to celebrate the October 12th marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities, which were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates.
Today, Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer festival. Held annually in Munich, Germany, the 16-day party attracts over 6 million people each year.
On average during the two-week extravaganza, festival-goers come from all over the world and consume:
- 1.5 million gallons of beer
- 200,000 pairs of pork sausage
- 480,000 spit-roasted chickens
Talk about a party! Be sure to join Hub 51’s Oktoberfest Kickoff Event on Saturday, September 22, and celebrate with the rest of Chicago (and the world!). To reserve your spot, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 312-828-0051.
