Where to Carb-Load for the Chicago Marathon
What better reason to devour delicious carbs than Marathon Day? Chicago Marathon is on Sunday, October 13 and for all you runners (and spectators) here are a few of our favorite places to refuel before or after the big race.
Before the Big Race
Before the Chicago Marathon, you want to stock up on foods that are high in carbs and low in protein, fiber, cream, acid and fat. Here are some of our favorite options:
Get started with some tasty pasta at il Porcellino! We recommend the Whole Wheat Capellini with roasted tomato sauce, basil and olive oil. Click here to make a reservation at il Porcellino.
The Rossa Pizza with tomato jam and arugula from Stella Barra Pizzeria comes without cheese and is a great dairy-free alternative. Click here to make a reservation at Stella Barra Pizzeria.
Osteria Via Stato’s Seafood Linguine with scallops, shrimp, calamari and Diavolo sauce is packed with carbs and is super filling for the big race the next day! Click here to make a reservation at Osteria Via Stato.
After the Finish Line
There is no better way to celebrate the end than with Hub 51’s famous Pulled Chicken Nachos with all-natural chicken, guacamole, tomato salsa, jalapenos, cheddar & oaxaca cheeses. Click here to make a reservation at Hub 51.
After you are done with the race you deserve one last carb! All you have to do is “run your buns” to present your marathon bib (or medal) at any downtown Wow Bao location to receive a free bao! Any flavor is valid, no purchase necessary.
We hope the Chicago Marathon is a fun-filled, successful day for all and that you eat some great carbs along the way!
