Hey everyone! Kailley of Kailley Lindman Photography here! I’m a food-writer-turned-photographer, and I’m here to help you create a plan of action for the next time you visit Shaw’s Crab House in Schaumburg for brunch. As you might know, Shaw’s weekend brunch spread is nothing if not expansive, and figuring out how to hit all the highlights can be a challenge– primarily because there are so many highlight-worthy dishes. To make the process a little less overwhelming, I’ve broken down a few of my favorite things.
The Seafood Bar Must: Oysters
There’s no denying the greatness of sushi rolls and shrimp with cocktail sauce, but when it comes to the cold seafood bar, freshly shucked bivalves are both a necessity and plentiful.
The Luxury: Alaskan Golden King Crab Legs
Steamed and served with drawn butter, these Shaw’s signature elevate your meal far beyond a status quo brunch.
The Showstopper: Bananas Foster Crepes
For something that’s equal parts Boomerang-worthy action and decadent, look no further than the made-to-order crepes loaded with flambeed bananas from the Chef’s Table– and have your phone ready. This is what the fire Emoji was really made for. Follow us on Instagram @shellyfromshaws to see this dish in action on the brunch highlight.
The Underrated Stunner: Fried Chicken
Fried chicken isn’t an obvious choice on the Grand Buffet line, but it shouldn’t be overlooked. Supremely crispy and golden on the outside, juicy on the inside; it’s the perfect addition to your fest.
The Gut-Buster: Lobster Mac ‘N’ Cheese
Sumptuous mac ‘n’ cheese studded with chunks of lobster and greens (for health, obviously); need I say more?
The D.I.Y.: A Fully-Loaded Bagel
Belly up to the toaster and get to work on crafting a picturesque bagel, complete with cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomatoes, onions, and capers.
The Non-Negotiable Side: Candied Bacon
Is there anything that says “brunch” more than bacon? At Shaw’s, it’s thick and crisped to perfection, and coated in a caramelized sugar for a simultaneous hit of sweet and savory in every bite.
The Post-Meal Move: Literally any (every?) thing on the Sweets Table
From cupcakes and cookies to miniature key lime pie shots, there are myriad sugary reasons to save a little room for dessert.
