Pizzeria Portofino opens today on the Chicago riverfront at 317 N. Clark Street. The restaurant transports you to the Riviera with its hand-stretched pizzas, coastal wines, expansive patio and breezy decor. It comes from the RPM team of partners including R.J., Jerrod and Molly Melman of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, chef Doug Psaltis and Bill and Giuliana Rancic. Reservations are now available through Tock.

Designed by award-winning architecture and design firm Rockwell Group, Pizzeria Portofino is the first to open of the three-phase project, which also includes the private event space RPM Events On The Water (September 2019) and seafood-focused RPM On The Water (Winter 2019).

Pizzeria Portofino is open daily for lunch and dinner. The all-day menu showcases imported ingredients from the Mediterranean as well as local Chicago artisans in vegetable antipasti, hand-stretched pizzas, artisanal pastas and charcoal-grilled seafood. The imported Burrata & Green Olives from Puglia is served with Castlevetrano olives, Iliada extra-virgin olive oil from Greece and housemade sesame semolina bread. The Pesto Genovese is made with trofie pasta imported from Sapori del Vallo in Liguria and finished with pine nuts and parmesan.

At the heart of the menu are hand-stretched pizzas made with stone-ground Midwestern grains – from the simple Margherita with crushed Campania tomatoes, imported bufula fior di latte and fresh basil leaves to the Piccante Verde with Cerignola olives, pepperoncini and pesto with pecorino and mozzarella. One of the stars – the Focaccia di Stefano – is the team’s take on traditional focaccia di recco, a regional specialty of Liguria where paper-thin sheets of focaccia are stuffed with stracchino cheese and baked until crispy. Charcoal grilled seafood rounds out the menu in options including Dorade & Artichoke or the Seafood Mista with prawns, mussels, clams, octopus and swordfish. View Pizzeria Portofino’s menus here.

The beverage menu has refreshing cocktails and spritzes in addition to a wine program from Beverage Director Richard Hanauer that focuses on coastal, classic Italian and Super Tuscan wines.
