CHICAGO, IL – December 5, 2015 – Oyster Bah, a new Lincoln Park oyster bar and East Coast-inspired seafood restaurant created in partnership with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises and the team behind Shaw’s Crab House, opens Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
The new restaurant’s menu will highlight all things fresh seafood with an influence that’s anchored mainly on the East Coast. Diners can expect a dynamic oyster program pulling from both East and West coasts, fish sourced from all over the world, and a solid mix of classic and unique seafood dishes like Stuffies, a stuffed clam dish baked with chorizo, Crispy One-Sided Snapper, which is garnished with Thai-inspired sauce, and even a mean Double Cheeseburger with fries. 8-12 oysters from both the east and west coast will be featured daily and shipped directly from the same farmers that Shaw’s Crab House has been working with for the last 31 years.
The wine list is structured to perfectly complement the seafood on offer with a focus on fresh, bright white wines such as Muscadet and Chablis. The list aims to feature producers that are new to the Chicago market and, like the seafood, will change according to what is available and what pairs with the seafood on offer. Diners can also enjoy a small selections of cocktails riffing on some classic East libations including The Cape (North Shore vodka, sage syrup, fresh lemon, and housemade cranberry juice) and the Pearl in the Park (Fords gin, housemade pear syrup, fresh lemon, and bubbles).
Oyster Bah seats around 80 guests with high top bar seating in the front of the restaurant and the oyster bar and dining room in the rear. The vibe is “New England meets New Orleans” with both playful vintage and modern design elements.
On the lower level of the restaurant is the Crab Cellar, a cozy basement bar of only eight tables and ten bar seats serving food and craft cocktails off of a separate menu from the main floor, though guests can certainly order from either menu. Crab Cellar’s menu was inspired to be a bit more “East Coast diner”, featuring Alaskan king crab legs, crab cakes, fish and chips, and two double cheeseburger options.
