CHICAGO, IL – April 5, 2016 – Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (LEYE) is pleased to announce that critically acclaimed mixologist Julian Cox is joining the Three Dots and a Dash team. Initially overseeing the beverage program at recently opened il Porcellino, Cox is expanding in the restaurant group as LEYE Beverage Director, now also overseeing the award-winning Polynesian tiki-themed bar program.

In 2014, Three Dots and a Dash was named “Best New American Cocktail Bar” by Tales of the Cocktail and one of the “World’s 50 Best Bars” by Drinks International magazine. Most recently in 2016, Open Table designated Three Dots and a Dash one of the “100 Best Restaurants in America” and was chosen by Food Network for “Best Tiki Bars in America.” Cox’s new menu at one of the world’s foremost tiki concepts will debut early May 2016.

“Julian is one of the most talented bartenders in the country. He continually blows our minds with his creations,” says managing partner R. J. Melman. “When he showed us what he wanted to do with the menu at Three Dots and a Dash, we couldn’t wait to get started and see where he and the team will take the tiki program.”

Prior to joining the LEYE team in early 2016, Cox honed his career on the West Coast, garnering such prestigious accolades as three consecutive James Beard Award nominations for “Outstanding Bar Program” for his time at Riveria in Los Angeles, as well as being named one of the “10 Most Influential Bartenders of the Past 10 Years” by Food & Wine magazine in 2014. Now at Three Dots and a Dash in Chicago, Cox’s expertise and experience will be used to craft authentic tiki cocktails blended with some more modern interpretations of the tiki style.

“Tiki was such an exciting era in beverage history. The cocktails focused on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and the fun environment was just as important as the drinks themselves,” says Cox. “The team at Three Dots and a Dash is so talented, and I’m having a great time working alongside them experimenting with new ingredients and styles. I think our team’s passion and excitement for tiki will really reflect in the new Three Dots and a Dash menu when it debuts in May.”

In addition to the new menu, Three Dots and a Dash with Julian Cox will host a Tiki Luau on Sunday, May 1, welcoming beverage talent from coast-to-coast visiting for the 2016 James Beard Foundation Awards alongside Chicago’s very own.
