The Comprehensive Guide to New Year's Eve 2016 in Chicago

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching and if you haven’t made plans yet, it’s time to get the ball rolling. There are 364 other nights in the year to Netflix and chill so make Dec. 31 a memorable one by indulging in copious amounts of good food and drinks. Many of Chicago’s restaurants and bars will be ringing in 2017 with lavish prix fixe menus and blowout bashes that will surely beat sitting at home and watching Carson Daly.

The variety of options are staggering. Enjoy a preview of one of winter’s most anticipated restaurants, Quiote, or beat the pants off your friends at glow-in-the-dark ping pong at AceBounce. For a more stylish evening, The Violet Hour will host “A Black Tie Affair” while Vol. 39 is taking it back to yesteryear with a Gatsby-themed party. And if you just want one last delicious meal in 2016? Well that definitely won’t be a problem.

Naoki Sushi

Leave the final decision of 2016 to chef Naoki Nakashima and sit back and savor his seven-course omakase menu. The chef’s choice dinner, which will be created based on market availability, will have seatings at 5 p.m. ($105) and 9 p.m. ($125).

Three Dots and a Dash

It might be freezing cold outside but on New Year’s Eve, leave the winter chill behind and escape to a tiki hideaway. The River North bar will host a tropical luau starting at 9 p.m., featuring Polynesian appetizers and signature tiki cocktails. general admission tickets are priced at $95.
