Spring has finally arrived, and that means local restaurants and bars are dusting off their outdoor furniture and opening patios and rooftops to allow patrons to bask in the glow of more welcoming weather.

There’s a variety of new perches to explore this season, providing fans of al fresco dining with plenty of alternatives — whether hunting for a sun-splashed spot to grab drinks with friends or plotting dinner under the stars.

New additions this time around include Dirty Habit’s courtyard with an outdoor bar, and National Harbor’s TAP Sports Bar, which is equipped with giant patio games. As the season rolls on, expect more outdoor seating downtown at Mirabelle and by the southwest waterfront thanks to the forthcoming Rosé Garden at Whaley’s.

We’re now up to more than 70 outdoor dining spaces to drink, eat, and enjoy the sunshine. Find them spread out across the D.C. area, everywhere from Shaw to Navy Yard to Shirlington to Bethesda. This list includes roof decks, indoor and outdoor spaces, traditional patios, and more. Make sure to check out companion coverage of the area’s busiest people-watching spots as well as buzzy local beer gardens.
