Annual Windy City Smokeout announces move to United Center parking lot, musical lineup
The Windy City Smokeout is expanding in its seventh year — taking over the 250,000 sq.-foot United Center parking lot for its return July 12-14 and boasting headliners including Grammy nominee Chris Young, award-winning Nashville-based quintet Old Dominion and platinum-selling country singer Cole Swindell.
The three day BBQ and country music festival, hosted by River North BBQ joint Bub City and American Country Music Award-winning bar Joe’s on Weed St, will take place outside of the arena along Madison Street; leaving its home since 2014 at Grand Avenue along the Chicago River. Its inaugural year took place at the corner of Rush and Illinois Streets in 2013.
The announcement makes the festival the first of its kind to take place at United Center.
“Since we started in 2013, our guests have always dictated how the festival grows and expands year afteryear,” co-founder and Bub City chef/pitmaster Doug Psaltis said in a statement. “The move to this Chicago landmark offers more space for guests to enjoy the best in BBQ, craft beer and live country music. This will be our biggest and best outdoor festival yet!”
