Where to drink discounted Dom and Cristal

Champagne has become a beverage synonymous with specials occasions, so it’s no surprise that the French wine flows during the holidays. Not to be confused with other sparkling wines from around the world — like Italian Prosecco or Spanish Cava — Champagnes from their namesake region in eastern France carry a unique terroir, beloved for their creamy body and notes of toasted brioche.

Typically, these coveted wines cost a pretty penny, but in the name of generosity and the holiday season, a number of Chicago-area restaurants and bars are knocking back prices, even on major labels like Dom and Cristal. Below, where to sip the good stuff at prices that won’t break the bank.

2. Mon Ami Gabi

From November 25 through the end of December, Lincoln Park French haunt Mon Ami Gabi will discount Moet Chandon Grand Vintage 2012. The restaurant typically sells the bottle for $180, but for the holidays it drops the price to $120 or $30 per glass.

8. RPM Steak

RPM Steak and RPM Italian are getting into the Dom deals action with three different pours by the glass. Dom Perignon 2006 is $40 per glass, and Dom Perignon P2 2000 and Dom Perignon Rose 2005 are both $100 per glass. Meanwhile, Charles Heidsieck NV will run $29 by the glass, poured from a magnum.
