We all have that favorite morning hangout — the one where we can crawl out of bed, throw on a baseball cap, and proceed to slurp down runny eggs and Bloody Marys, hoping in vain to cure our reckless Saturday night. But, too often, weekend brunch means treading a path of least resistance, whereby we constantly return to the same tried and true standbys, wait too long for a table, and then order the eggs Benedict. The Michelin Guide announced the Chicago recipients of its 2015 Bib Gourmands, an award that sometimes comes with mixed emotions.

Bib Gourmands designate very good restaurants that offer good value (the rule of thumb is two courses and a glass of wine for $40 or less), and while that's a very nice distinction, receiving a Bib Gourmand means the restaurant isn't getting any stars.

Your friend who’s running the marathon this weekend probably has her entire Sunday planned, down to how many minutes before start time she’ll eat her pre-race banana. You, the spectator, should probably do the same—while you may not be worried about proper fueling, you should worry about the fact that the city environs will be more or less unnavigable once the festivities begin.

Honey, brisket, and flourless chocolate cakes are to Rosh Hashanah as turkey is to Thanksgiving and disdain for humanity is to the general holiday shopping season. The Jewish New Year, taking place September 24 through 26, brings a sea of luscious dining specials at restaurants throughout Chicago.
