Shaw’s Crab House Hosts Interactive, Sustainable Oyster Tasting

September 15, 2010

Continuing its commitment to the Shedd Aquarium’s Right Bite program, Shaw’s Crab House will host an engaging, sustainable oyster tasting at the Chicago location on September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

During the event, guests may taste an array of responsibly caught oysters, enjoying them paired with wine. Diners will learn how to shuck oysters during a demonstration, participate in a giveaway and hear why choosing healthy, sustainable seafood is key.

The fête costs $40, or $35 for Shedd members. All proceeds benefit the Right Bite initiative. Participants must register in advance by emailing adults@sheddaquarium.org or calling 312.692.3206.

On an ongoing basis, the Chicago and Schaumburg locations of Shaw’s Crab House offer a separate, eco-friendly menu for diners. Approved by the aquarium, it highlights “Best Choices” from the Shedd’s “Right Bite” guide. The goal is to foster healthier oceans and support fisheries and fish farms that are friendlier to the environment and ocean wildlife.
