L. Woods Go Bragh!
The St. Patrick's Day celebration expands for its 7th year with a weeklong extravaganza, from our first entertainment and music tent to a family day of fun with the annual kids parade, dance contest and children’s activities. Here’s the lineup:
Food & Drink:
March 11 through March 17 – Menu of Irish classics at lunch and dinner featuring corned beef and cabbage soup, corned beef and cabbage, Guinness braised beef stew boxty, Irish organic salmon with an apple butter sauce, and chocolate cream pudding with Baileys whipped cream and a crispy oatmeal cookie.
$2 Schlitz beer and specialty cocktails.
L. Woods Go Bragh! Entertainment Tent & Stage
Friday, March 12 - Jason Narducy, Chicago musician best known as former singer/songwriter/guitarist for Epic recording artist Verbow performs. Jason has toured with many artists, such the Counting Crows and Bob Mould of Sugar.
Saturday, March 13 - Scott Ligon and Casey McDonough take the stage. Ligon and McDonough have played in a variety of bands, including the honky-tonkish ensemble called the Western Elstons.
No cover charge; the bands will play from 8 to 10 p.m. each evening. Irish dancers will perform in between sets.
The Kids Gang Party & Parade
Saturday, March 13 – We provide all the green – beads, noise makers and top hats – to march in the parade starting at 10:30 a.m.
Make a reservation for lunch, and party afterwards to a DJ spinning dance tunes in the L. Woods Go Bragh! Entertainment Tent & Stage until 1:30 p.m. Dance contest, magic show, arts and crafts and balloon animals. Free.
Live Music
March 11 - the Dooley Brothers perform their brand of Irish folk music.
March 15 – Fritz & the Celts pick up the rhythm.
Both bands play from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. by the bar area. No cover charge.
Go Bragh! Movie Night
March 16 – Get into the Irish spirit: take in a screening of The Quiet Man in Lynn's Back Room starting at 6 p.m. Starring John Wayne, the film follows a disgraced American boxer who retires to Ireland where he finds love. Free.
Passport Stamped for Ireland
March 17 – On St. Paddy’s Day, you are honored, too, if you’ve been to the Emerald Isle. Show your passport with the stamp and receive complimentary corned beef and cabbage at lunch or dinner.
Pot O’ Gold
L. Woods will donate a $1 from every Schlitz beer or Irish menu special ordered up to $5,000 to benefit the Chicago chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
