Chicago's 18 Essential Steakhouses, 2017 Edition

Chicago is historically a meat and potatoes kind of town so it's no surprise that many of the country's top steakhouses reside here. From divine, dry-aged steaks at restaurants that span decades to luxurious Japanese Wagyu beef, the following 18 spots are a cut above the rest. Whether it's for a special occasion or just a lovely date night, don't settle for anything less than the perfect slab. Listed in alphabetical order.

Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab

Surf and turfdoesn’tget much better than at Joe’s. The famous stone crabs are a perfect pairing to any steak and the restaurant’s origins are linked to a partnership between Lettuce Entertain You and legendary Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami. No matter how full guests are, though, they'll want to save room for a slice of the signature key lime pie.

RPM Steak

The Rancics and Lettuce Entertain You followed up the hugely successful RPM Italian with a steakhouse and it’s proved to be every bit as popular. Sure, it’s a place to see-and-be-seen but the food doesn’t disappoint either. From the modest 10 oz. "Duke" rib eye to an extravagant Mishima tomahawk steak, the menu has quality beef for days. Cap it off with a 14K chocolate cake specked with gold flakes and leave feeling like a million bucks.
