Internships at Lettuce Entertain You

Our internships are designed for incoming junior and senior hospitality students who are confident and aware individuals with a desire to pursue excellence in the industry. We offer a hands-on program with an opportunity to grow within the Lettuce Entertain You family. Many of our current managers are graduates of the Lettuce Internship Program.

Each intern will be assigned to work an hourly position at a specific restaurant. In addition to their hourly position each intern will be required to complete a checklist that includes various managerial duties and responsibilities. All interns will be required to attend weekly meetings facilitated by Cheryl Baran Symank, the Internship Program Coordinator, as well as weekly educational seminars. These seminars cover numerous hospitality topics and are delivered by various speakers, including Richard Melman, founder of Lettuce Entertain You.

In addition, an exciting component of the intern program is the Restaurant Concept Project. Interns work in groups to develop a restaurant. They present their restaurant concepts to Richard Melman at the end of the program.

During the program, Cheryl Baran Symank and each intern’s General Manager will meet individually with each participating intern for feedback regarding the operation, areas for improvement, and their experiences.

The Lettuce Entertain You Internship Program runs from mid-May through mid-August. Interns are responsible for providing their own housing and transportation.
